Santander Signage
From the Holt Chronicle:
Dear Caroline,
The Holt Society would like to say “Congratulations and Thank you” to Santander for using their special metallic grey and white ‘heritage’ livery in Holt. Many companies such as banks, retailing and restaurant chains with properties in the high streets of historic towns throughout the UK are now showing a greater awareness and sensitivity to design and the visual environment.
Their corporate signage is often adapted to the building, location and the street context. In the case of Holt, the Santander building is modern but it stands in the heart of the Georgian conservation centre. The nearby Aylsham Santander branch already carried the grey and white heritage signage, harmoniously blending with the surrounding buildings. But until now, the Holt branch had the standard issue overly dominant red and white corporate signage as seen on many ‘anywhere’ bland city high streets.
At last, Holt has been treated with respect and given what this fine historic town deserves – a sense of place.
